Groundhog Day Celebration — Soldiers Delight Visitor Center

Description: Groundhogs are famous for their mid-winter weather predictions. However, these large squirrel relatives have many other unique behaviors and habits. Directions: From the Beltway (I-695): Take I-795 to Franklin Blvd. West, turn right. Bear right at Church Rd. Turn left at stop sign onto Berrymans Lane. Turn left at Deer Park Rd. and go for 2.5 miles, to Visitor Center entrance on the right. From Rt. 26 West : Take Rt. 26 to Wards Chapel Rd. Turn Left. Follow Wards Chapel to stop sign, and turn right onto Deer Park Rd. Entrance is 1 mile on the right.

Directions: From I-695 (Baltimore Beltway), take Exit 13, Frederick Road west. follow for two miles and turn left on South Rolling Road. At first intersection, bear right in Hilton Avenue. Continue 1.5 miles and turn right into park. From I-95, take exit 47 (keep left on exit ramp), heading north (Route 166) to South Rolling Road. Follow 1.8 miles and make a sharp left on Hilton Avenue. Continue 1.5 miles and turn right into park.

Directions: From Washington, D.C, Virginia and points south, take I-270 north towards Frederick, Maryland. Take Exit 10, Clopper Road (Route 117). Turn right at the light at the bottom of the ramp. The park is approximately 2 miles on the left. From points north, take I-270 south towards Washington, D.C., take Exit 11 (MD Route 124 west). Turn right at the light at the bottom of the ramp. At the second light, turn right onto Clopper Road (Route 117). The park is approximately 1.5 miles on the left.

Winter Tree Identification Hike
