Learn some quick facts about snakes of Maryland and watch the live corn snake eat his weekly meal! Meet at the Park Office. Cost: No cost Directions: From Washington, D.C, Virginia and points south, take I-270 north towards Frederick, Maryland. Take Exit 10, Clopper Road (Route 117). Turn right at the light at the bottom of the ramp. The park is approximately 2 miles on the left. From points north, take I-270 south towards Washington, D.C., take Exit 11 (MD Route 124 west). Turn right at the light at the bottom of the ramp. At the second light, turn right onto Clopper Road (Route 117). The park is approximately 1.5 miles on the left. Seneca Creek State Park 4/7/2017 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Location: 11950 Clopper Road City: Gaithersburg County: Montgomery Description: Join Volunteer Ranger Bell for a 2.5 mile round trip guided hike. Find evidence of beaver activity near the trail and check out several different beaver lodges! Bring water and a camera for some great photo opportunities. Remember to wear comfortable hiking shoes. Meet at Kingfisher Overlook. Cost: No cost Directions: From Washington, D.C, Virginia and points south, take I-270 north towards Frederick, Maryland. Take Exit 10, Clopper Road (Route 117). 4/8/2017 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Location: University of Maryland Extension Building 700 Agricultural Center Drive Westminster, MD 21157 City: Westminster County: Carroll Description: This half day workshop addresses the importance of planting tree and shrub seedlings adjacent to water bodies. Presenters will touch on a number of topics including the importance of reforestation at the watershed scale, sediment/pollution regulation and their impacts locally, civic engagement for reforestation opportunities the general public can contribute, and technical advice on proper planting and maintenance of tree seedlings. Free tree seedlings and low cost tree tubes pick up are available for all pre-registered Backyard Buffer applicants following the workshop. New Germany State Park 4/8/2017 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Location: 349 Headquarters lane City: Grantsville County: Garrett Description: Join us at New Germany State Park for a new type of Egg Hunt in which you and your family hike our trails in search of Easter Eggs. There will be 1000 eggs hidden across up to 10 miles of trails.This is a FAMILY event! All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Eggs will be hidden on hiking trails with various difficulty ratings. Some trails may notbe suitable for small children. Families can drop in and register at any time during the event. Registered participants may redeem their eggs for candy until 3:00 pm.A maximum of 20 eggs per family may be collected. Registration will take place atthe New Germany Lake House, located at 403 McAndrews Hill Road, Grantsville.
