Full Snow Moon Hike 
Gunpowder Falls State Park

Location: Monkton Station (1820 Monkton Road, Monkton, MD 21111)

Description: Because the northeast typically receives its heaviest snow in February, the Native Americans called February's full moon the "Snow Moon." We will meet at Monkton Station for a twilight hike down the surfaced Torrey C. Brown Rail Trail (wheelchair-accessible). Please wear warm clothes, sturdy shoes and bring a flashlight or headlamp. Nature Walk 
Seneca Creek State Park

Location: 11950 Clopper Road

Description: Take a hike to explore natural and historical features of Seneca Creek State Park. This hike will take you 2 miles on the Seneca Greenway trail to the viaduct. Wear comfortable hiking shoes, bring water and dress appropriately for the weather. Meet at the Park Office.
Cost: No cost
Directions: From Washington, D.C, Virginia and points south, take I-270 north towards Frederick, Maryland. Take Exit 10, Clopper Road (Route 117). Turn right at the light at the bottom of the ramp. The park is approximately 2 miles on the left. From points north, take I-270 south towards Washington, D.C., take Exit 11 (MD Route 124 west). Turn right at the light at the bottom of the ramp. At the second light, turn right onto Clopper Road (Route 117). The park is approximately 1.5 miles on the left.

Stargazing: Inside Planetarium — Soldiers Delight Visitors Center

Description: Tonight, we will be using an optical device for projecting images of celestial bodies and other astronomical phenomena onto the inner surface of our hemispherical dome (or rather...our auditorium)! Experience the stars inside tonight! Call 410-922-3044 to register. Fun for all ages! Rain or Shine!

Directions: From the Beltway (I-695): Take I-795 to Franklin Blvd. West, turn right. Bear right at Church Rd. Turn left at stop sign onto Berrymans Lane. Turn left at Deer Park Rd. and go for 2.5 miles, to Visitor Center entrance on the right. From Rt. 26 West : Take Rt. 26 to Wards Chapel Rd. Turn Left. Follow Wards Chapel to stop sign, and turn right onto Deer Park Rd. Entrance is 1 mile on the right.

Description: Join a local ornithologist for a short hike to look for signs of wintering birds. Learn how to find and identify birds that stay in Maryland through the cold weather, and how they handle the elements. This is a good opportunity for birders of all skill levels. Bring binoculars if you have them, dress for the weather, and wear good shoes for walking. Shine only! Call 410-922-3044 to register. Fun for all ages!
