Owings Mills, MD 21117 City: County: Baltimore Description: Come help us celebrate National Bird Day by learning about Maryland’s native raptors. Meet several of our avian ambassadors up close as we explore their biology, habitat, diet, and conservation.Call 410-922-3044 to register. Fun for all ages! Rain or shine! Cost: $ 5/ person. Directions: From the Beltway (I-695): Take I-795 to Franklin Blvd. West, turn right. Bear right at Church Rd. Turn left at stop sign onto Berrymans Lane. Turn left at Deer Park Rd. and go for 2.5 miles, to Visitor Center entrance on the right. From Rt. 26 West : Take Rt. 26 to Wards Chapel Rd. Turn Left. | Patapsco Valley State Park 1/5/2017 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Location: 5120 South Street Halethorpe MD 21227 City: County: Baltimore Description: Birders of all skill levels are invited on a leisurely 2-mile hike along the paved Grist Mill Trail to listen and look for birds! Learn how to submit bird observation data to the park. Wear sturdy shoes. Bring water and binoculars.Call 410-461-5005 to register. Fun for all ages! Cost: Shine only! Directions: From the Beltway (I-695): Take Rt. 1 (exit 12A) toward Elkridge. Follow Rt. 1 South about 3 miles to South St. Turn right. Park entrance on the left. | Fair Hill NRMA 1/7/2017 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Location: 300 Tawes Drive, Elkton, MD 21921 City: Elkton County: Cecil Description: Join park staff and local historian Emily Kilby in learning about the ruins of Fair Hill NRMA. We will meet at Centre School (weather permitting) for a moderate hike around Fair Hill NRMA. Please use park office address (300 Tawes Drive, Elkton, MD 21921), we will have signs leading the way to Centre School. If road conditions are poor but the weather is good, we will meet at the Covered Bridge Parking Lot. Friendly dogs on leash welcome. Please dress for the weather. Do you need to get to know a camera you already have? Join us for a 2 hour Beginning Photography class where we will go over camera basics, lighting, focus, and composition. Bring your camera or modern smartphone and its manual. We'll work with you and your camera to help you become more comfortable taking pictures both inside and outdoors. Meet at the Park Office. Cost: No Cost Directions: From Washington, D.C, Virginia and points south, take I-270 north towards Frederick, Maryland. Take Exit 10, Clopper Road (Route 117). Come join one of Susquehanna’s Rangers on a moderate 2 mile hike to learn what it takes to care for Maryland’s State Parks. Please wear sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate clothing, and bring water for the hike.
