It affects forest health in many ways. This Earth Day, join us in our removal efforts. AS A BONUS…. The plant is a tasty edible, raw or cooked. We will have garlic mustard pesto on hand for you to sample and send you home with greens to use in your own dishes. Recipes provided. Sturdy shoes and long pants recommended. Earth Day Challenge |
Tuckahoe State Park 4/22/2017 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Location: 13070 Crouse Mill Road City: Queen Anne County: Queen Anne's Description: Join Tuckahoe State Park staff and volunteers in some work and then play on none other than Earth Day! Spend the morning (beginning at 9 a.m.)helping the earth by beautifying and cleaning up the park. Afterwards, enjoy a FREE day on Tuckahoe's high ropes course including a 40' rock wall, tube net, zipline 50' giant swing and the 25' pamper pole (11 a.m.- 2 p.m.). Keep in mind, challenge course participation is for ages 7 and up. IF you don't want to take part in the morning volunteer activity, you may still have fun on the challenge course: $20 for adults 16 and older and $15 for ages 7-15. Remember to bring close-toed shoes and water. Please call ahead to register! New Germany State Park 4/22/2017 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Location: 403 McAndrews Hill rd City: Grantsville County: Garrett Description: New Germany State Park is seeking volunteers to participate in the annual Earth Day Work Day on April 22. Projects will include trail maintenance, campsite improvements, and litter cleanup. These activities are best suited for ages 12 and up. Participants should bring their own work gloves and meet at the Lake House (403 McAndrews Hill Road) at 1:00 p.m. Volunteers are encouraged to preregister by calling the Ranger Station at 301-895-5453. Check out the Clopper Mill Ruins next to Clopper Road and help pick up trash that has washed down from the road. Cost: No cost Directions: From Washington, D.C, Virginia and points south, take I-270 north towards Frederick, Maryland. Take Exit 10, Clopper Road (Route 117). Turn right at the light at the bottom of the ramp. The park is approximately 2 miles on the left. From points north, take I-270 south towards Washington, D.C., take Exit 11 (MD Route 124 west). Turn right at the light at the bottom of the ramp. At the second light, turn right onto Clopper Road (Route 117). The park is approximately 1.5 miles on the left.
