Squirrel Oak is a woodcut made from the cross section of a branch of the Wye Oak. The squirrel sits on a bole surrounded by the tree.

About the Artist:  Caroline Thorington is a Bethesda, Maryland artist, printmaker and painter who enjoys making natural history prints. Her works are in numerous museum collections including the Library of Congress, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Portland Museum of Art in Oregon. Here solo exhibitions include “From the New World” at the Smithsonian’s Natural History Museum in Washington D.C. and “Images from Nature” at the Glenview Mansion Art Gallery, Rockville, MD. Recently, she curated the 2005 exhibition, “Lasting Impressions” at the Rockville Arts Place in Gaithersburg, MD.
