After reading the reports of snakeheads in the pond at Bumpy Oak Road in Charles County, I had to give it a try. I caught 5 nice ones, and only one of them was less than 20 inches long. More importantly, they are delicious!
On Saturday, August 20th, I went out to the pond with weightless, Texas-rigged Senkos. I used 5 inch watermelon and rootbeer colored lures, but I dont think that the color mattered. What mattered was getting the Senkos into clearings in the lily pads, and twitching them. The snakeheads rise to the lures like the Loch Ness Monster! What a blast! I attached a picture of three of them on a stringer, and a picture of all of the post-filleted, disembodied heads for entry into the contest.
