Huge Drum

Type: Chesapeake
Region: Eastern
Location: Mouth of Magothy River

Myself, Ed Pierce 43, (right) and my friend, Jeremy Ignatowski " Iggi " 19, took turns fighting this black drum on very light tackle, Friday night, (8-26-11), about 10:00pm, around the mouth of the Magothy River. We used a small piece of soft crab for bait. We thought for sure it was a large skate until it surfaced. We took it to Clydes Sport Shop. It weighed 60lbs and measured 48". We were issued a citation. We caught it on a tiny #4 hook that we were using to catch white perch. We also caught a 23" rock fish and 10 white perch. We were lucky to get in a great fishing trip before the hurricane hit.
