Region: Southern
Location: Solomons Island
Fished out of Solomons this afternoon with Rob Schou of the School of Rockfishing and my friend Zack Hoisington. We left the Patuxent and and kept our eyes peeled for breaking fish. There were scattered pods of blues and rock busting on bay anchovies and silversides. We found a few schools of bunker in the 8"-10" range with no predators harassing them. After catching a few rock and blues for the box we headed to the Eastern Shore to fish some shallow water spots that have been holding fish. We ended up catching a few more keeper rock and speckled trout up to 15". The trout were not big but are a certainly a welcomed guest for any Maryland angler.
