Hello, it's Bao again. I went back to the bumpy oak pond (aka snakehead pond) on Labor day. This time I brought 2 friends with me who wanted to catch their first snakehead. We arrived there around 9am and nothing was bitting for approximately 40 minutes.
All of sudden my fishing buddy Prentice (incredible hulk shirt) got a huge hit on his precious frog, He set the hook like a pro (as usual) and caugh/kill a 23", 3.9 lbs northern snakehead.
A few minutes later my friend Russ (spencer shirt) got a big hit on his frog and reeled in a nice 24", 4.1lbs snakehead. He proudly told me that it was the biggest fish He ever caught!
Looking at them catching their first snakehead was fun now it was my turn to catch one, got a quick hit near the bank as I was reeling in my frog, set the hook and caught a little 14", 1.2 lbs snakehead. Prentice caught another small one (13", 1lbs) before we decided to leave.
It was a good day and to top it off we had delicious fried snakehead for dinner!
I would like to submit the close up of the snakehead for the photo contest, thanks DNR keep up the good work!
