I ventured down to Black Hills Tuesday morning. This, after driving there last Friday only to be turned back by heavy debris and mud covering the road to the boat ramp. The rangers told us the launching docks were underwater. I had called Thursday and was told things were fine.
The first fish of the morning was a nice 19 inch largemouth. I had thrown my whacky rigged 5 inch Gulp Sinking Minnow on the edge of the shore and just as I dragged it into the water the bass inhaled it. I got one other 15 incher and a few smaller ones. The amount of debris floating on the lake which had come out of Ten Mile Creek was something I had not seen before. The hydrilla was still invasive along the shoreline and that made fishing difficult with anything except a weed less rig. Unfortunately, nothing would take the top water frog I offered. It was ideal for fishing over the weeds and through the debris.
