Award Size Spotted Seatrout

This Spotted Seatrout was caught at the mouth of the Choptank River on 9/25/2011 and was verified at Shore Sportsman in Easton. The fish was measured at just over 24inches, the fish was caught during an incoming tide while casting to striped bass in the shallows, it was caught on a full size Stillwater Smack-it in 6 feet of water. I also landed another trout on the same lure that measured at 21 inches along with numerous school sized striped bass. There seems to be a good population of "specks" in the mid bay this year despite all of the freshwater runoff, as I've caught a number of near 20 inch fish as far north as the Bay Bridge.
