Largemouth Bass Surveys Continue on the Eastern Shore

Type: Tidal
Region: Central
Location: Upper Choptank River

Tidal bass biologists began their survey of the Choptank River yesterday. There were lots of young yellow perch out there must have been a good year for the spawn. We saw some nice fat sunfish, yellow perch, and pickerel; but best of all, a few nice largemouth bass. A couple of bass were 4 5 pounds. The Greensboro area offered a pretty quiet atmosphere for fishing and there were plenty of nice fish to catch. While the bass fishery on the Choptank River has been struggling, we hope a combination of stocking and reduced exploitation will help improve fishing.
