Action On Lower Potomac River

Type: Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Potomac River

Yesterday, 10/9/2011 I fished with a good friend. We were targeting stripers in the area of Port Tobacco Creek. We hit all the regular main river spots and couple of the old piers around the mouth of the creek. Saw lots of bait, so did the terns, but we could only catch 2 small non keepers. We then proceeded to our favorite white perch hole and were not disappointed. We caught about 100 in a few hours. We normally catch them on small Berkly Gulp baits and small spinnerbaits but today the bait of choice was a Baby N crankbait in yellow perch pattern. These perch were absolutely crushing that crankbait. We caught 5 around 12 inches with most others at 8-10 inches. Filled the cooler for dinner. Also caught a bonus 34inch blue cat on my ultra light with 10lb braid, what a fight. Another awesome day on the Potomac.
