Great Day on the Upper Bay

Type: Chesapeake
Region: Northern
Location: Upper Bay

My wife Karen and I enjoyed a great day on the upper bay on Sunday October 23, 2011. We caught numerous smallmouth and largemouth bass. The attached picture is my wife holding the biggest fish, a 22 inch 5-1/4 lb. smallmouth (her personal record). WOW, what a hawg. We caught several 2lb., 3-1/4 pounders, 3-3/4 lb. smallmouths inaddition to the 5-1/4. We caught only one smaller smallmouth @ 8 inch. We are not tournament anglers but our 5 fish bag weighed 18.5 lbs. ( 3lb. largemouth, 3-1/4 smallmouth, 3-1/4 smallmouth, 3-3/4 lb. smallmouth & 5-1/4 smallmouth. I believe this 5-1/4 lb. 22 inch smallmouth qualifies for a citation. Could you please confirm this.

DNR Response: Congratulations on your catch, in order to get an award citation you need to go to Award Center with your catch, you can find a list of Award Centers at www.dnr.state.md.us/fisheries/challenge/index.asp?p=centers, unfortunately I do not believe there are any award centers in Pennsylvannia. A photo can also be taken to a center for Catch & Release awards.
