On Sunday, 2/19/12, I decided to check out some local yellow perch fishing spots. With no luck in Hillsboro on the Tuckahoe River, I decided to head downstream to the Stoney Point access area. There were about 10 people already there fishing from shore. I located a spot next to three guys who had their three young boys with them. With only one hour to fish, I was happy to have caught three yellow perch - one of legal size. The action was similar with the other fishermen, with the exception of those using blood worms who were also catching some small (8-12") catfish. The memorable thing of this fishing trip will be overhearing the conversation of the fishermen next to me. The two middle-aged fishermen were exchanging stories about fishing with their fathers when they were younger. I find myself frequently doing the same - reminiscing of past fishing experiences with family and friends. And, is why I believe part of the reason we go fishing is to keep those memories that we cherish fresh in our minds. Take a kid fishing and create some new memories.
