Bass

Type: Nontidal
Region: Central
Location: C&O Canal

I hooked three decent size bass at the wide water area of the canal (near the Old Anglers Inn) mid-day today. I landed two of them (then they where released), but the largest caught me off guard and ran out a bunch of line before I got my drag tightened down. He then proceeded to wrap himself around a log several times. I tried to work him off with a long branch, but eventually he got free and took my lure with him. All three where hooked using a spinner bait with a gold Colorado blade and a smaller silver round blade, and I had a grub with a swimming tail on the hook. Worked it really slow. Bites were fairly subtle. I guess they're still feeling a bit sluggish from the winter.
