Chain Bridge- Potomac River

Type: Nontidal
Region: Central
Location: Potomac River, Little Falls

Usually at this time of year, I catch a lot of fish there. Lately it has been horrible. Zero fish there this whole year! Horrible! Low water and NO FISH. No one else seems to be catching anything either. For the last few years, there have been a lot of poachers down there. One guy I saw a lot last year was keeping striped bass, largemouth, and smallmouth, all out of season and over the limits. Maybe this is why the place seems to have run dry, either that or the crazy weather and low water. Time to move down river towards Fletchers or maybe further into DC. ?

DNR Response (Joe Evans): If you witness poaching, please contact the Natural Resource Police on the Catch-A-Poacher 24-hour hotline immediately(800) 635-6124. Concerning the fishing action near Chain Bridge, Natural Resources inland fisheries scientists have no indications of a bass population problem along this stretch of the Potomac at this point in time. As always, DNR will make a note of your report and those from other anglers along the river. Thanks for passing along your observations.
