On Friday April 30th 2010 we set out of Sandy Point State Park just before sunrise for a days fishing. It didn't take long for the day to get going, at approximately 6:45 am our first strike occurred. We were at green channel marker can number 87 in 90 foot of water with the rod peeling off line. This was one of my newer rods with Penn 330 GT2 reel loaded with 30 LBS braided. It took us about 25 minutes to land the monster rock. She was a whopping 48 inches long with a 29 inch girth and weighed in at 47.3 LBS at the MSSA tournament weigh station at Sandy Point( I wish we were in the tournament). This fish was huge! The biggest irony to the story is she was caught on a "Novelty Lure". This past winter at the Earl heights Fishing Flee market I had bought a tandem rig dressed in "Baltimore Ravens" colors complete with helmet emblems and joke with my fishing buddies that it was going to catch the biggest fish this spring. Well my prediction came true yesterday morning. GO RAVENS!!!!
