Delayed Harvest Trout Fishing Areas in Western Maryland

Type: Nontidal
Region: Western
Location: Delayed Harvest Areas

All Delayed Harvest Trout Fishing Areas in Western Maryland have been stocked- Youghiogheny River in Friendsville (1000 trout), Casselman River (3695 trout), Town Creek (2500 trout), and the upper North Branch Potomac River (1500 trout). Fisheries Service went the extra mile by float stocking Town Creek, allowing fish to be distributed throughout the management area. We also stocked the upper North Branch Potomac through a cooperative effort with CSX Railroad. The railroad truck hauled a tank loaded with trout, and we were able to stock trout throughout this remote stretch of the river. We noticed Winter Stoneflies were hatching in abundance on all these rivers- so anglers get out with your stonefly imitations and enjoy Western Marylands trout fishing!
