Invasive Snakehead

Type: Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Potomac River

I caught this rather large Northern Snakehead just south of DC on incoming tide with a #5 Vibrax spinner and a 2.5" pumpkin colored minnow trailer attached on March 15th. I was slow rolling the lure and letting it drop. The Snakehead hit it on the fall. It measured 33.5" and weighed in at just over 13 pounds. The fight was incredible. I landed this fish on 10lb. test line (and it took out at least 40' of drag.) The fish was dispatched by removal of the gill arches and severing it's spine. I also caught several nice Largemouths this morning.
