Trout at Deer Creek, Rock State Park

Type: Nontidal
Region: Northern
Location: Rock State Park, Deer Creek

My brother, father and I headed out early Saturday morning hoping to get our limit early. When we arrived at our spot we were surrounded by many anglers hoping for the same early limit. At about 6:30 am my brother and I had a double going on. After a quick release of my brothers fish, he went for the net after seeing the size of my trout. After a few missed attempts of netting her he was able to wrestle her into the net. The trout measured 23 and 1/8 inches long and 12 inches girth. We estimated her at weighing in at between 6 and lbs to 7 lbs. I caught her on a 1/8 oz white beetle spin lure and used my Gloomis ultra lite rod and 6lb stren line. Thanks Dad and Chris for another great memory outdoors with you.
