Largemouth Bass on Tidal Potomac

Type: Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Potomac River

I just wanted to give a quick report of our day long trip on the Potomac.

We left from Ft Washington Marina at low tide. First 3 casts we nabbed 2 very healthy 13 inch largemouth bass on lipless crank baits on the shore line right near the docks.

We traveled on the rising tide down the small creeks targeting snakehead but I am happy to say we only saw one, though it was a rather large adult. While in the creek we caught 4 largemouth all around 12 inches. All were caught using 5 inch weightless green pumpkin senkos. We fished the newly growing grass beds along the rocky bottom shore lines on the way back in. My buddy turned up 3 crappies all over 14 inches using a soft plastic minnow in a silver shad pattern. I got a nice 3.5 lb largemouth (pictured below) working a senko slowly through falling branches. All fish were released. Great day and happy to see the bass hitting so hard.
