Spent the morning on Apr 3rd with my pup wading the shoreline. Made it through all kinds of cover with no bites except for the flying insects that have completley infested every bit of shoreline at the Loch! Got towards the end of my trip and pulled a small pickeral. Then about 50 feet from my endpoint I tossed out my line, let it sink, and when I began reeling I started thinking "Another snag!" Then the snag started running!! Ended up with this nice largemouth. The tackle I was using is also posted.pretty simple..Wading Pants, Slip-bobber, Shad Dart and a Powerbait Sparkle Bait..I was actually trying for crappie, but I'll take this one. Awesome fight, I was using light tackle: 4lb line on a Panfish rig, I was happy she didn't snap the line. Hope everyone else had an equally awesome day! Tight Lines!
PS..DNR: Have you been noticing a overpopulation of beavers around Loch Raven? I have come across numerous downed trees that have been chewed away by beavers'Im not complaining because it makes for awesome fishing spots, but I have to think they are at least going to be becoming a nusiance.
