Snakehead at Fort Belvoir

Type: Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Fort Belvoir

The photo below shows a picture of me holding a 35 in. snakehead in my backyard. I took my canoe out at Fort Belvoir and went into one of the creeks from the Potomac River. The water was calm and and the weather was hot. I threw a scum frog (plastic frog bait) into one of the lily pads and he took off viciously. My canoe was dragged deep into the creek for a good five minutes until he settled. Measured and weight at 35 i.n and 15 lbs. respectively. Does not have the same pattern as most common snakeheads. This one was pure black. I put it down to rest with a needle down the hole of his head.
