Trout in The Savage & Casselman Rivers

Type: Nontidal
Region: Western
Location: Savage & Casselman Rivers

Over the weekend I fished multiple tributaries to the Savage River as well as the Casselman River. The fishing was good in the Savage, landing 20-30 fish over the two days, most of which were in the 8-10 range with a few scratching on 11. Fishing low and slow was the key, as the fish were feeding, but not aggressively. The fishing was also good on the Delayed Harvest section of the Casselman River near Grantsville. Once again, fishing low and hitting the pockets was the key to getting hook-ups on the stocked fish.

Despite the colder water temps (~40-45 degrees), its a great time to be chasing trout!
