On April 6th me and my father in-law Gordy Hall went to Loch Raven to rent a fishing boat and try to get out on the water for a day and have a good time maybe catch some good fish. First cast my dad caught about a 16 inch chain pickerel. We soon moved to a spot where I've caught a lot of nice crappies a few years back. Wasnt there long and my dad caught himself a nice 14 inch crappie. I caught a 8.5 inch bluegill in same location. The wind picked up so bad it seemed as the wind started blowing the fish stopped biting. I moved once again to try and stay away from the wind, but it was nearly impossible. I decided to live line a large shiner and not a minute after it swam off the line got tight and I caught a 11 inch yellow perch. I had some nice strikes and lost a nice one, it seemed to wrap me around a sunken branch and could not for the life of me get him loose. We moved once again til we came to this cove in the background of the picture. There was not a breeze blowing in the cove so I casted my small tube jig rigged with a bobber and small minnow. I went to reel up the line a little bit to get the bobber out of the sunken tree, as soon as I moved it I saw a flash in the water and set the hook. He was wrapped around a branch and I thought for sure he would get free with the ultra lite rod and line I was using for crappie fishing. I wasnt surprised it was a nice size bass on the other end. Cant wait to for next fishing trip now! Til then Tight Lines, Bent Rods and Take a Kid Fishing!
