So I caught this crappie at Lock Raven off my kayak with a simple black lead head and white mister twister. I've been having trouble catching very much of anything out their lately. Anybody have any tips or hot spots?
DNR RESPONSE: If your fishing from a boat, try Hampton Cove. Because it's shoreline is not as accessible and it is further from the boat launch, it recieves lighter fishing pressure and you may find your results improve there. Also, it have varied habitats ranging from submerged forests at the old peach orchard off Pine Ridge Golf Course to the rock bluffs on the opposite side of teh cove from the golf course. Crappies like the deeper water off the rocks, and bass like the submerged timber. For shoreline fishing, some nice crappies can be found in Goetzes Cove and some dandy catfish.
