A Good Morning Catching Trout at Owens Creek

Type: Nontidal
Region: Central
Location: Owens Creek

Yesterday I noticed that Owens Creek had been stocked. So I decided that I would stop by on my way home from work. What I saw was craziness. There were way too many people fishing for my pleasure. It looked like Frank Bentz pond on 3/31. One a whim I decided to drive by this morning to see what was going on. I figured there wouldnt be many left after the crowd I saw yesterday. When I drove by my heart sank. There were 4 to 5 fisherman standing in and around one small hole; my favorite hole. As I drove on by I noticed the larger hole, that typically holds a heck of a lot more fish was completely empty. I quickly stopped and got my gear out and started fishing. Within five minutes I had hooked four fish.and lost every one of them. I would reel them in and halfway in they would jump, turn and spit out my treble hook. But this just had me more determined. I managed to hook a nice 15 inch rainbow in the side of the mouth and ever so swiftly flung him up on the bank. Within 30 seconds of throwing my line back out I had another 15 incher on the hook. The couple that had just walked up could only stare as I reeled both monsters in. Within 35 minutes of fishing I had my limit. I managed to land an 11 inch and 12 inch rainbow and a nice 12 inch golden rainbow. All in all not a bad morning at Owens Creek at all!
