Caught Seven Kinds of Fish in Marley and Furnace Creeks

Type: Nontidal
Region: Southern
Location: Marley and Furnance Creeks

On April 15 with the warm weather here I decided to go to one of my old favorite spots. The place I learned to fish for the most part, Marley and Furnace Creeks. Fishing with a 1" gulp minnow I quickly caught a few bluegill and pumpkinseeds. Then about a 12" bullhead catfish on a worm. As the sun started to set I caught two 9" yellow perch and a few smaller whites then this 11" fatty who still was filled with eggs. (I thought the white perch have spawned out already?) As the sun set I caught a nice 21" channel cat on worm also. Not to mention a small 8" rockfish. So altogether thats a total of 7 different type of fish! In summertime you can bet on catching a few more species where Marley and Furnace meet. Bluefish and Spot come up in mid to late summer. It's been a favorite spot of mine from the pier at the boat club but Ialways do a lot better when on a boat out near coast guard yard. Being a tidal creek near freshwater running into the creeks you can catch nearly every species of fish in maryland waters. My list of fish I haven't caught there would be short. Hopefully the crabs will be up here soon, I tried some cut bait but no one has caught any crabs yet. Since I know they are biting good I'll definetly take the kids down soon.
