The Youghiogheny Chapter of Trout Unlimited members and MD Fisheries Service personnel conducted a stream clean up along the lower Savage River on April 15, 2012. The event was successful. A variety of household trash, recyclable cans, plastic, tires, and discarded furniture were collected. Tons of trash ends up in our local rivers due to discarded litter on the ground and illegal dumping. Trash is more than just an eyesore to the public; it threatens our drinking water and the lives of wildlife.
As you can see in this picture the result of the clean up was very rewarding for the TU volunteers. Awareness is still the key in order to maintain a healthy environment. So discover the beauty of the Savage, spread the word and keep the area void of trash!
