Great Day Catching Rainbow Trout

Type: Nontidal
Region: Central
Location: Big Gunpowder

On the weekend of April 14th, I took my best friends little brother trout fishing. We went to the big gunpowder (lower). We caught our limit on saturday so we decided to go back on Sunday. We got to our spot around 8am. After an hour of fishing the fish seemed to stop biting. We were using trout magenets so I told my friend Garrett that we should switch up our colors. My first cast back into the water, BOOM! Huge hit. I set the hook and an unbelievable fight was following. After 15 minutes of pure adrenaline I landed the fish in my net. Quickly running it to shore so I wouldnt lose it. I couldnt believe my eyes. I caught a 22 inch, 5.18 pound rainbow trout. What a weekend, Thank you DNR for a great memory and thanks to my little buddy Garrett for helping me catch this huge fish!
