On Wednesday the 18th I went back to Marley Creek at sunrise. The tide was about an hour from slack. I caught a little pickerel on first cast with gulp 1" minnows. I starting vertically jigging the bait next to some poles and caught two nice yellow perch, and right before I had to leave I caught the nice bluegill. I caught a few small white perch too but let them go.
Can you identify the small crabs that the perch have been feeding on in the photo, half the size of a quarter?? DNR reply - Sesarma spp. - the wharf crab. They are scurrying all over those poles the angler mentions, very common on intertidal areas of docks and riprap.
