White Perch caught in the lower Susquehanna River

Type: Tidal
Region: Central
Location: Susquehanna River

As my good friend Jimmy Allen (buffalo head) use to say when the perch fishing was good "perch are thicker than thieves" is exactly what they were last evening. Got to my favorite spot around 5 pm with light rain and a little cooler temp. White perch were biting on my 5 wt fly rod and a small white yellow and chartreuse bob clouser pattern, about every drift. Fished until 7pm with one other guy Dennis from NE. Between the 2 of use we caught about 80 perch 4 or 5 rockfish and a couple of hickory shad. I brought home 6 keepers (self imposed limit) 10" or larger. 2 of the fish measured just short of 11". Most of the fish caught were in the 7-9" range. All in all it was a great evening of fishing.
