Rainbow Trout on the Little Patuxent

Type: Nontidal
Region: Central
Location: Little Patuxent River

On April 19th after work me and a friend stopped by Little Patuxent in Howard County after seeing that it was stocked just prior and the weather was really good. There were only a few cars there to my surprise. I only saw 2 other fishermen. We found a nice spot below the little falls and used a trout magnet. We saw a few of the orange trout and knew they where in there but couldnt get a bite.

Then I switched to a grub and on the first cast I set the hook and felt two head shakes of a nice fish. I saw it flash near the surface, it must of bit through my 4lb line. I re-tied with that feeling we all have when we loose the big one. A mixture of frustration, anger and thoughts of what happened?

On th next cast I caught a nice 14 inch rainbow. Within 15 minutes I had my second and limit for the location, so I decided to help my friend tie some powerbait on his line and after a few minutes he hooked one and nearly had it on land when it came off. Against his will we had to leave so I could get home in time to send the kids to school.
