Fishing With My Dad
Type: Chesapeake
Region: Eastern
Location: Thomas Point

My dad picked me up from school early recently and I got to go trolling for big rockfish for the first time in my dad’s boat. We started fishing off Thomas Point trolling large bucktails and umbrella rigs. Within 5-minutes we had a strike on a line trailing from the port side planer board and my dad let me fight the fish. It was really hard to reel it in, it took about 15-minutes to get the fish to the boat and my dad scooped it up in a big net. I was real tired but glad I was able to reel it in all by myself. It was my first big rockfish, it measured 34” long and since it was a male fish we took him home for dinner.
