Tidal Bass and Snakehead on the Potomac

Type: Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Potomac River

Had a nice peaceful day out on the water today. Made it out at around 6:30pm and caught only 2 fish before dark. First was a decent largemouth around 17 inches or so, and the second was a 24 inch northern snakehead. This is my 4th snakehead this year. Both fish were caught on a black and yellow spinnerbait with a size 4.5 gold Colorado blade slow rolled through the pads at high tide. Other baits that have paid off this week, have been blue Texas rigged 5 inch grub tail worms with metal flecks and not much else (for me at least.)

For all those anglers who are catching snakeheads but afraid to eat them, don't be. They're delicious and they have thick filets and a clean flavor. I am a die hard catch and release bass fisherman so there is one clich that I just can't stand, but today it rang true I caught and released a snakehead, into my frying pan!
