5/21 Blue Crabs in Upper Severn

Wife and I hit the upper Severn River for two hours (5�7 p.m.) Friday after work; our first crabbing of the year. Ran only 13 traps, baited with chicken backs, and caught 11 keepers. All were 5.5� or slightly better; we caught an equal number of throwbacks. Most were caught in shallow water (3�) with just 2 taken from deeper (12�). Not bad for a short evening on the water. We picked them and made crab cakes the following evening.
