On Tuesday May 15th my uncle called me and said that a guy backed out of their charter boat trip for the 16th. I jumped on that spot without hesitation, also the limit went up to 2 a day so I could barely sleep with the excitment. Fishing out of Cheasapeake Beach, Md on boars the HELEN-R with captain Dave Quade and his first mate Mike. These guys are professionals in every aspect of the word, and very helpful. I would definetly book my next trip with this crew.
Fishing the channel edge just south of Cheasapeake Beach with mostly chartruese and white tandems it didnt take long to land a 35 inch rockfish. The trick seemed to be to have different color heads on the bucktails with sassy shads attached in white or chartuese. Blue, Red, and Pumpkin was the hot head colors. 7 fish total from 1pm til 5pm from 22inches to 36 inches. Every fish but one came on planners board lines. Everyone caught at least one and I did not hesitate to grab the rod when everyone looked at each other as the seventh fish was on. I didnt think twice, and I would most definetly go out with Cpt. Dave and Mate Mike again. We've already booked 2 more trips with these guys onboard the HELEN-R. Tight lines! Pictures of my two fish, my uncle and cousin with his fish, and first mate Mike un-hooking my second fish, you can see the lures color in the picture. Good luck to all, get those big ones before they are all gone til next trophy season.
