Tiger Trout in Western Maryland

Type: Nontidal
Region: Western
Location: Mouth of Creek that empties into Potomac at Dam 4

I caught this 18 inch, 1lb 13 oz Tiger trout at the mouth of the creek that empties into the Potomac at Dam 4 on May 21st in the pouring rain. My fiancee and I are avid anglers but had no idea what this fish was, I had to Google it. Beautiful fish, he was released healthy.

DNR Response:The stream is Rocky Marsh Run, a spring creek. The State of WV stocks the stream from the mouth upstream 3.5 miles to route 45 west of Shepherdstown. After a few stockings in the late winter, the stream is stocked weekly from March through May. Occasionally we have collected brook trout below Dam 4 while conducting our early spring walleye surveys. Nice looking fish.
