Trotlining on the Rhode River

Went trotline crabbing on the Rhode River last Saturday 07/07/2012. I used a 1,000-foot line with approximately 200 chicken neck baits. Early morning the sky was clear and the water calm. Crabbed from approximately 07:00-10:00 and only caught about a dozen keepers; most were just over 5 inches, few over six inches. Threw back several dozen too-small males and a dozen females. Compared to past years, "The Catch" was marginal.
