On July 17th I went down to the family pier late in the evening to feed the bluegills and ducks. I noticed that the carp had come back in, this time fewer in numbers and much smarter. Though tricky, several times the carp mouthed the bait. Finally one caught on a piece of floating bread w/ 4/0 hook. Very fun fishing for this by sight on the surface and watching them take the bait after missing it numerous times. Hell of a fight for a minute or two, very enjoyable and at the same time I get to help rid the bay of this invasive species. Caught this one on 4/0 hook, flourocarbon leader, braid, Diawa Beefstick rod, and Okuma 40 series spinning reel.
