I just wanted to share a couple of photos of a near citation (25 ) Walleye I caught at Liberty Reservoir while fishing on my birthday, Wednesday, June 2.
DNR RESPONSE: Walleye in Liberty Reservoir seem to be only caught occasionally. I dont get the impression that people go to Liberty to specifically fish for them. Our most recent electrofishing survery (fall 2007) on Liberty only found 2 adults in 30 electrofishing stations, each station follows roughly 1300 ft of shoreline. The walleye population seems to have peaked in the late 1990s in Liberty Reservoir and we havent seen that many since then. Liberty can grown really nice walleye and I have personally observed some 8 lb fish there.
