Location: Above Dam 4 in the Big Slackwater
Pat Otoole and I enjoyed a very good day above Dam 4 in the Big Slackwater last Friday. The number of bass 12 inches and over was impressive. We actually had 18 in that category, including two of the largemouth. Buzz bait and drop-shot with 3 inch gulp minnow were the hot baits for bass. The bluegill would eat anything as we boated several that were never hooked! They were just hanging onto the end of the larger baits. Boat traffic got heavy in the early afternoon, making fishing much less comfortable. Water temp in the low 80s and plenty of grass beds for cover. The work they have done there rebuilding the towpath is quite impressive. Im sure the price tag is even more impressive!!
