My son and I went fishing Saturday just north of Great Falls Park on the Maryland side. We caught a couple of non-keeper smallmouths out of the Potomac by slowly dragging worms along with the current, but it was tough fishing with a kid because I found few places on the shore for him to cast that where unobstructed. On the way back we worked the canal and I was shocked but the quantity and number of HUGE carp schooling there in only two feet of water. We saw a couple of bass that where larger than our catch, but they where completely uninterested in everything we offered them (which probably explains how they got to be so large). This keeper took a small creature plastic, creating "the world's most unhappy child". Bass nuggets where enjoyed 1.5 hrs later. The recipe for this was previously posted on this site. To find it, search "bass nuggets" or "steve goldberg".
