Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass

Type: Nontidal
Region: Northern
Location: Creek in Harford County

First off I am a daily reader of the Angler's Log. I look forward to every update. I have previously turned in a report for the old Fishing Report, but this seems much better in terms of showing off a good day. I am a teacher in Baltimore County and after work yesterday I hit a local creek within walking distance to my house. I used to fish solely in ponds and lakes, but Harford County doesnt offer as much as Baltimore County does, where I previously lived. Due to that fact, I have converted to Smallmouth Bass fishing in this creek and have loved every minute. I fished on the 10th from 3-4:45 and caught only 3 fish. However, the two pictured are the biggest for that species I have caught this year. The Smallmouth was 17" (approx) and the Largemouth at about 13". The Smallie was caught down current from a small concrete dam in about 3' of water on a 4" Watermelon Yamamoto. I thought I had a rock at first honestly since I had not caught a creek fish that large on ultra light gear. Finally the Largemouth was caught on a Rat-L Trap(silver with red color) in about 5-6' of water. I look forward to a good Saturday morning of fishing and hopefully can add to the page again soon! Keep up the great work, we fisherman appreciate everything DNR does.
