August 30, Pat O Toole and I fished out of Shepherdstown starting at 6:20 am. There is a lot of grass in the water now which makes certain baits difficult to fish. Pat connected with several smaller bass early, in 1 to 4 feet of swift water at the first ledges below Stown. Because of the heavy grass, we moved into 5 to 10 feet of water and began to hook up with a few nice bass and a couple of catfish. Once again the fish were not hitting the buzzbait or the frog. Not any action on the surface despite a hatch and low lying fog early. Three inch Berkeley Gulp minnows worked well with a slow presentation. The action was slow but steady all day. The water is quite clear.
