Hammerhead in Assawoman Bay?

Type: Coast
Region: Eastern
Location: Assawoman Bay

I was fishing for flounder th the thorofare in Assawoman Bay on Aug 31 when we hooked a hammerhead shark at 5-6 ft. He broke off but we had him to the boat twice and got good look at him. I was wondering if you heard of anyone else doing this. I also was wondering what kind of hammer it was. It had a rounded dorsel fin.

DNR Response: It was probably a scalloped hammerhead - you need a good look at the head to know for sure. There have been a lot near shore lately, this is the first Ive heard of in the bay this year.
