Weekend Fishing at Assateague

The bite was hot at Assateague Island State Park this weekend until the heavy winds came in and shut it down. I surf fished Friday evening/night and Saturday morning. I caught my first red drum Friday then another Saturday morning. Even though they were pups, it was nice to get my first. Small bluefish became bait stealers, stripping the hook within minutes of hitting the water. I totaled 2 reds, 2 kingfish and 1 blue. My bait of choice was fresh finger mullet chunks.
