I've been catching spotted trout (specks) and juvenile red drum in the Point Lookout area for several weeks. Most frequently, I launch at Buzz's Marina on St. Jerome's Creek and fished shallow water areas (3 - 10 feet) where there is current and structure in the Bay and in the mouth of the Potomac River. When conditions are good, I sometimes head over to the Eastern Shore and fish in Kedges Strait, the Marsh Islands and Smith Island. I've caught specks up to 21 inches and two keeper reds, so far. The redfish in the photo is 19". The speck is 21". I use light tackle and a 3/8 ounce plain jig head with various kinds of 4" soft plastics.
